Fairfield Preparatory School has an outstanding reputation for sporting excellence within the county. Children are encouraged to participate in competitive sports and are taught to enjoy team games and to compete fairly. Many individuals rapidly develop sporting prowess and go on to compete successfully at district, county and national level.

The school believes that the philosophy of Sport for All and the pursuit of excellence can run effectively alongside each other.

At Fairfield we are fortunate to have the use of the following facilities:- gymnasium, which can be separated into two teaching areas which is fully equipped with gymnastic equipment, eight tennis courts / netball courts, astro-turf pitch, on-site swimming pool, football pitches, cricket square, athletics track and long jump.

This enables the School to compete in a wide variety of sports from grass roots to County level.

The department has 1 full time P.E. specialist and 2 part-time specialist teachers. In addition it has 1 part-time Boys’ games teacher and 1 part-time swimming teacher. Many other teachers help to deliver the P.E. curriculum and help with the many extra-curricular activities.

The School has many representative teams which compete locally and against other Independent school. These include:- Football, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Tennis, Athletics, Rounders, Cricket and Cross Country.

The fixture list is varied and challenging.
