PE

Children in Reception receive half an hour of Meaningful Movement throughout the year. They also receive half an hour of Gymnastic activities or Minor Games activities until Easter. These then change to Striking Games and Athletic activities in the Summer Term. These lessons are taught by subject specialists.

Children in Years 1 and 2 receive half an hour of Meaningful Movement throughout the year. They receive an hour of Minor Games, Gymnastics or Dance in the Autumn and Spring Terms. In the Summer Term the children engage in Striking Games and Athletic activities. All of these lessons are taught by subject specialists.

In the Upper Prep ( Years 3,4,5 and 6) children receive an hour of PE and an hour of Games each week.

Games activities include:

Each class in Year 3 and 4 will also receive 40 minutes of swimming for 12 weeks of the year. This will reduce to 25 minutes for the half term pior to the Swimming Gala.Children in Year 5 and 6 alternate approximately every half term on Friday afternoons. Each class receiving 25 minutes pool time.


Facilities

  • Fairfield Preparatory School has excellent indoor and outdoor sporting facilities.
  • These include a fully equipped gymnasium which can be separated into two teaching areas, eight netball/ tennis courts, an astro-turf pitch, 11-a-side and 6-a-side football pitches, a cricket square, and a six lane 200m athletics track.
  • These facilities enable the School to compete in a variety of sports from grass roots to National level.

Fixtures

Fairfield has a varied inter-school fixtures calendar with both local Primary Schools and Independent Schools around the Country. The school enters a number of tournaments throughout the year and has achieved great success.
All sporting activities are inclusive but the Department does expect commitment, cooperation and endeavour.
